Hi there
First time posting on here however read many an article which has helped previously
im looking to freshen up the house below by painting the roof, garage doors and eaves however I wanted to ask about the wooden pillars at the front of the entrance. I’m after covering these with a cedar or something and remove the decorative fillers just to modernise a touch. Any recommendations on how, and the type of wood and can I get that cut to fit at Bunnings? Thanks Dave
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Glassy. It's fantastic to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about modernising your front wooden pillars.
Cedar is typically considered a specialist timber and isn’t something we generally stock, though you might like to check with your local stores Special Orders team to see if it is available form our suppliers in your area. However, we do carry primed and treated pine that's suitable for external use — this could be a good option if you're planning to paint the cladding. If you're looking for a timber to leave exposed, something like Tasmanian oak from our range might suit, depending on the look you're after.
Most stores offer a cut-to-size service for these timbers, though it's worth noting it's not a precision cutting service. For more detailed or accurate work, I’d suggest having the timber cut to rough sizes in store and then trimming to exact fit at home.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Mitchell
