Hi,
These are my front stairs, I want to paint them but don't know what steps I need to take to clean them and what paint to use. There are a few cracks in them as well.
I'm in Hobart so usually a bit cooler but the stairs are also in direct sunlight all day which I think can affect the paint?
Any help would be great.
Hi @KillKen,
To get your stairs ready for painting, start by giving them a really good clean. A product like Cabot's Deck Clean works well, and using a pressure washer will help remove any dirt, algae, or other organic material.
Next, address the cracks by filling them with a product such as Builder’s Bog, then sand the surface smooth once it’s set.
Once the stairs are clean and repaired, you’re ready to paint. For durable, long-lasting protection, use Cabot's Timbercolour, which is designed to withstand sun and weather conditions while providing a tough finish. Ensure you mix in Intergrain 200g UltraGrip Additive for the stair tread sections. This is a must as painted stair treads become very slippery without it.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
