Hi Bunnings Workshop team,
I need some advice on how to paint this fence. I have Dulux water-based primer and water-based paint. Do I need to do anything before painting, like washing the fence?
I'm also worried about the green stuff on the fence (you can see it in the photos). Do I need to treat it, and how?
The fence gets sun only after 3 pm — does that matter?
Thanks a lot for your help!

Hello @OlgaK
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about painting your fence.
I suggest washing the surface of the fence with a pressure washer and using Intergrain 1L UltraPrep Timber Cleaner (Garden Safe) which cleans and rejuvenates the surface of the timber fence. This will also address the moss and fungal growth happening on the surface of your fence. I also suggest using a scrub brush to thoroughly clean the surface. Getting the sun on your fence after 3pm is not going to be an issue.
My best advice is to allow the fence paling to totally dry off before you start painting the fence.
I also suggest having a look at this featured project - Fence refresh using paint by @Tinker_Bell.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
