Hi all, I want to paint the eaves of my verandah. What sort of prep do I need to do? As the pics show there are gaps between the plasterboard and beading. What should I fill these with?
DoI then sugar soap and paint?
I’ve only painted interiors before.
As you can see the current colours must go!
Many thanks
Hello @notsohandy88
I suggest having a quick look at these discussions - How to repair and paint eaves? by @Sakthi1 and How to repair gaps in eaves? by @emma22. There are some excellent suggestions in the discussion on how to prepare your eaves for painting. The general steps are to sand and clean the surface of your eaves, fill the gaps with gap filler and then paint the eaves.
My best advice is to mask off the sections of your wall and ceiling that you wish to protect from overpainting. I also highly recommend using a painters drop sheet to protect your floor from dripping paint from your roller.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
