I recently wI think the past year have painted over my old aluminium windows using the Dulux Metalshield Spray Paint.
in some places they have already chipped away and I’m wondering the best way to go about touching them up?
Hi @jorjmorris,
You’ve got a couple of good options for touching up those chips. The simplest method is to tape around the affected area and apply a couple of quick coats with the same Dulux Metalshield Spray Paint to blend it in. If you want a bit more control, you can spray some paint into the cap of the can and then use a fine brush to carefully spot-treat the chipped areas. With either of these methods, the paint will cover the underlying colour and make the chips much less noticeable. However, you may still see a faint outline where the chip was. For a more seamless repair, you could lightly sand the chipped area to smooth out the edges and feather the difference in height between the base layer and the painted coating. Using something like 240-grit sandpaper should be sufficient. Once the edges are smoothed, you can spray over the area as described, which will give a much less noticeable repair than simply painting directly over the chip.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
