How to remove black marks on Merbau deck from gas bottle?

Hi all.

Some idiot (me) put his BBQ gas bottle on my new deck.

It's created these black circles, which don't seem to come off...

Any idea on how they might be removed?

Hi @Leith,

You might like to try some Feast Watson 1L Woodclean to see if that lifts the stain. Alternatively, you could also try Cabot's 2L New Timber Prep, which is a bit stronger. Both these products will strip out the current Merbau timber stain, so it might be worth doing the whole deck and then re-oiling it for consistency.

There's a good chance that you won't be able to remove the stains with products, so you might need to sand the area and re-coat. Another option would be to replace the affected boards altogether if sanding doesn't work.
