How to remove old bird droppings on wood verandah?

Our wooden verandah is in need of oiling but it has bird stains on it.  We tried to remove using soap and scrubbing brush but it didn't work.  I think we need something more heavy duty.  Can you recommend something?

Re: How to remove old bird droppings on wood verandah?

Hello @Flikka

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's fabulous to have you join us, and thank you for sharing your question about removing bird droppings on your wooden verandah.

If you are planning to re-oil the surface, I suggest using Cabot's 1L Deck Clean to clean the surface of the wooden verandah. If it is still not clean enough you'll have to use a pressure washer to clean out the bird droppings.

However, please note that using the pressure washer will lift the fibres of the timber surface. It will be necessary to sand down the surface to remove any splinters that are standing up as this will get in the way while you oil the timber surface. If your deck is not prepared properly, the oil will not go on evenly which will result in a patchy and uneven finish on your deck.

Here are some handy step-by-step guides:

Please keep us updated with your progress,  we look forward to seeing the start of your verandahs revamp.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.
