Hello,
Laid a bunch of porcelain 1200mm oak tiles and been difficult to clean off tile adhesive. When we wash down and use the germi its difficult to see the white ghosting when everthing is wet. Tried scrubbing brush on harder stuff and still on. Can you use some kind of hydrloric solution
acid wash or something else?
Hi @SkipperGrant,
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
If you can avoid using an acid wash, this would be preferable as they have the potential to etch the surface of the tiles, remove colour and damage the coating.
Since you've tried scrubbing and a pressure cleaner, there's a good chance it is pretty stuck on.
You could try soaking a rag in hot water, then letting it sit on the stains for 5-10 minutes to soften them up a bit, then use a Plastic Scraper or Non-Scratch Scourer Pad to try to manually remove the tile adhesive.
If this doesn't prove fruitful, you could try using a pH-neutral tile cleaner, like this Miracle Tile & Stone Cleaner 946ml from our friends at Beaumont Tiles. Apply it to the tiles following the instructions on the packaging, then agitate it with your plastic scraper, scourer or scrubbing brush, then rinse it off with your pressure cleaner.
Give these options a try and let me know how you go. I am happy to assist further if required.
