How to renew painted deck?

Hi there

I was wondering if I could get some guidance for our timber deck maintenance.

I’d like to renew the current coating on our outdoor deck area. I am not unsure if current coating is paint our other product. The deck area is around 50 square meters and the current condition is not bad but I think I need to do some maintenance and refurbishment.

Please see attached photos.
Do I need to sand the whole area then recoat? Or can I just apply a top coat / oil on the current coating after cleaning ? Appreciate if you could also recommend products. Thank you !

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about your timber deck.

I believe a paint has been used on your deck. If you can bring a sample piece of the colour of your deck to the stores paint specialist, they might be able to match it using Cabot's 4L Brown Timbercolour Deck And Exterior Paint. As to the application, your deck will need to be sanded down so that you'll get a uniform finish on the surface of the deck.
