How to repaint glazed ceramic garden pots?

I would like to know if it’s possible to repaint these glazed ceramic pots?

I would like to paint them black.

Any advice on if possible and how best to approach this task, preparation, type of paint etc….would be greatly appreciated. TIA IMG_1337.jpeg

Re: repainting glazed ceramic garden pots

Hi @harmony,

Glazed ceramic pots can definitely be tricky to paint — they're a bit like painted glass in terms of difficulty. The surface is very smooth and not naturally receptive to new coatings. I'd recommend doing a test patch first using something like Flood ESP (Easy Surface Prep), which you can find in a 500ml bottle. It's designed to help paint stick to glossy, hard-to-coat surfaces. After prepping with ESP, you should be able to use a standard paint over the glaze.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell
