Hello,
Home has a rust hole on corrgated iron roof - looks like it's been painted over (not sure if treated first). (Also has a rusty edge of flasing).
Wondering what the best (or else easiest) way to tackle this would be?
Hello @GM123
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your corrugated roof.
If you are after a quick repair patch before the rains come, I suggest using CAgroup 100mm x 10m Weatherproof Byute Flash Flashing Tape. My best advice is to wipe the surface of the corrugated roof with Selleys Sugar Soap Wall Cleaning Wipes - 25 Pack and allow the surface to air dry before you apply the flashing tape.
Since the rusted areas have been covered with paint, I suggest leaving them alone rather than breaking the paint surface. But if the paint has started to chip and bubble then it will need to be removed and treated. My best advice is to cover the entire length of the rusted section and using the end of a screwdriver handle to push the flashing tape firmly to the surface of the roof.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
Eric
Hello,
Thank you very much for your reply that is very helpful. I have covered the affected areas with flashing tape (although I didn't do a very good job woops - hopefully is alright in the meantime! Wonder if I should re-do 😅
