How to repair holes in metal fascia?

Hi there,

I have got some holes in the metal fascia that I would like to patch up. Two of 3 have drainage pipes run through them. Was thinking of using the silicon to seal it but I'm not sure if that's the best way going forward? Will I also need to clean it up with something before the patching?

Thank you.

Re: Repairing holes is metal fascia

Hello @sky31

Two of your pictures shows that PVC pipes are coming out of the steel fascia. When you say repair the holes are you referring to covering the gaps around the PVC pipes? If so, I suggest using either the Holman 40mm PVC DWV Floor Flange or the Holman 50mm PVC DWV Floor Flange. They can be cut in half for easy installation and fixed in place using silicone. Their size should be sufficient enough to cover the gaps around the PVC pipes.

As for the one with no PVC pipes coming out of it, I suggest using Australian Handyman Supplies 600 x 600 x 0.55mm Galvabond Mini Sheet. You'll need some tin snips to cut a small square and use that to patch the hole in the fascia. I suggest using silicone and then painting the patch so that it matches your fascia.

Let me call on our experienced members @Dave-1 and @Nailbag for their recommendations.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Good Afternoon @sky31

I think I would just smooth up the edges (one looks pretty rough) with some wet and dry sandpaper and then cut a small plate from @EricL 's link to cover by around 20mm extra and silastic over the holes, then paint with the same exterior paint.

If the drainage pipes are staying then DWV links that @EricL has suggested is also the way I would go.

Hi @sky31

I think the easiest solution would be to fill each one with a matching colourbond colour silicone. You will just need to apply a small amount at a time and allow to dry the larger openings.
