How to repair uneven paving?

Hi all,

I am looking to do a patch up job on paving that was laid over 20 years ago. It has sunk in spots and I would like to just reseat and relevel the sunken pavers. I assume the base on which they were laid has been washed away or degraded by insects over time. What is the best material to use to retouch the base under the pavers and to place between the pavers. I pressure cleaned the pavers a few day ago and the came up really well.

Thank you for your question.

To bring the sunken pavers up to level, I'd suggest removing them, adding some road base and compacting it with a tamper before putting them back in place. You can then use a rubber mallet to tap the pavers and make slight adjustments, so they are in line with the neighbouring pavers.

Once the level has been raised, you can then sweep polymeric paving sand such as this Dingo Powerloc between the pavers before misting with water to activate the polymer. Ensure you read the instructions to ensure you are wetting them down in line with the manufacturer's recommendations.

To clarify, I only need to remove the sunken pavers then add the roadbase?

If the rest are okay, removing and filling beneath only the sunken pavers would fine, @SteveC.
