How to restore outdoor timber furniture?

My outdoor furniture is desperate need of some love. In the past it’s had decking oil applied because I had it but I want to get away from the dirt brown colour and either have a weathered grey finish or maybe just paint it.

suggestions for products and methods would be appreciated please.

I’m currently painting old windows and would be ecstatic if I never saw another piece of sandpaper in my life if that can be worked around.

To restore your outdoor timber furniture, the first step is to strip off the existing decking oil and prep the timber. Give your furniture a thorough scrub with a stiff brush to remove dirt and oils. You’ll be surprised at how well this process can revive the timber. However, if there are any splinters or rough spots remaining after cleaning, you will need to lightly sand these areas to smooth them out.

If you'd like to maintain the natural look of the wood without it turning that typical "dirt brown" colour, consider applying a clear furniture oil, such as Feast Watson Exterior Furniture Oil. Hi Mitchell,

thank you for your comprehensive reply which I shall apply to an outdoor garden bench. Meanwhile I decided there’s too much wood in this area so will paint the chairs.
