How to screen under deck?

Any suggestions on how to block off under my deck and what materials I can use which won’t be too expensive.

Re: How to screen under deck?

Hello @BeniT

If you are after screening cover, I propose looking at SpecRite 1800 x 902mm Pre-Oiled Merbau Alternating Slat Fence Panel or SpecRite 90 x 19mm Merbau Pre-Oiled Decking - Random Lengths - 90mm. Both these products are rated for outdoor use and are from select grade, kiln-dried timber for stability and a high quality, premium appearance. In regards to the decking panel, you can use it to line the bottom making your own screen.

Another option is to use marine grade plywood, this will effectively close off the area and reduce the amount of wind passing through.

Let me call on our experienced members @Dave-1 and @Nailbag for their recommendations.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Eric

Re: How to screen under deck?

Hi @BeniT all those suggestions by @EricL will give a great finish to that space.

The cheapest alternative which still looks great and requires no ongoing maintenance is to use 150 x 25mm plinth board. It’s commonly used in this application and looks best if spaced around 15-20mm. Get delivered the 5.4m lengths as this is the most cost effective way to buy it.

I would consider incorporating a gate and then once finished you can line the back with builders plastic to reduce weather getting in if you want to use the area for storage. This is what I had done for a mates pool deck.

Re: How to screen under deck?

Morning @BeniT

I would generlly op for a timber solution like @EricL 's or @Nailbag (tho havnt used this type before)

I have used something like Lattice Makers 2400 x 500mm Falling Leaves Fence Extension (the version I have is similar)

Or I just saw this while looking  Matrix 1800 x 430mm Charcoal Slat Extension Fence

But to throw into the mix of something differeant and cheapish.

How about installing two rails H4 treated timber and then using the shade cloth staples fix shadecloth pulled tight betwen the top and bottom rails. It will allow air to circulate and should stand up for several years. I would wrap the material over the viewable side and stapple from under the house so it looks seemless.
