How to seal around flyscreen?

HI,  just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to seal around the flyscreen. I have just replaced the screen however, there is alot of movement and gap around flyscreen.

Re: Seal around Flyscreen

Hello @AntonioFalla

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your flyscreen.

It appears that the flyscreen frame is not thick enough to meet up with the locking clips and a gap appears along the body of the flyscreen frame. I propose installing a piece of timber moulding such as the 18 x 11mm 5.4m Moulding White Pine FJ Primed DAR on the left and right-hand side of the flyscreen. You can attach the timber piece using Selleys 250g Liquid Nails Clear Construction Adhesive

However, I suggest doing a quick test first to make sure that the timber moulding is the correct size. If not you can either sand it down or exchange it for a smaller size.

Let me call on our experienced members @Dave-1, @Nailbag and @AlanM52 for their recommendations.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Eric

Re: Seal around Flyscreen

Hi @AntonioFalla

Bunnings have a range of foam and soft-cloth weather seals that have a self-adhesive backing. they come in various thicknesses. so, you will be able to find one thats suits which will allow the window to still operate fully.

Good Evening @AntonioFalla

I like @EricLs's suggestion of timber beeding eiether side of the window frame to lock the flyscreen in. You could use some 15mm bullet head nails with 8mm thick beeding or instead some short timber screws. I would drill a pilot hole first if you use timber screws. I would also be careful in working around the glass in the window. Wearing safety specs at the very least.

Good onya mate for having a go 👍

I favour @Nailbag's suggestion doing the self-adhesive backing thing.
