How to seal gaps around glass doors and windows?

Hi everyone,

I’m working on converting my sunroom into two semi-rooms

and have completed about 60% of the project. The basic structure is built with timber and 2400 x 1200mm 9mm White MDF Primed VJ Panels from Bunnings.

One of the walls is a glass window, and there are some gaps between the glass and where the panel ends. Similarly, there’s a sliding glass door causing another gap. I’d like to close these gaps as I’m planning to use this space as an office with a portable aircon.

The green circles are where I am seeing those gaps. I don't want to cut the aluminum panel where the glass windows are installed.

Any suggestions on how to seal these gaps effectively?

I would pull off and extend the VJ panel out towards the glass with cut outs over the aluminium window frame so the panel is3mm off the glass.

I would then use a strip of 5mm thick white or black door sealing foam (usually used around door frames self-adhesive) between VJ panel and the glass.

Where the sliding door is sliding past maybe rubber strip is not foam

To seal the gaps around the glass and sliding door, you’ll likely need to construct a customised timber frame to fit these areas. You can use trim work to create a tighter fit around the gaps. A sealing strip can be added between the timber frame and the glass to reduce the gap further and provide a more secure seal.

However, a word of caution: when working around glass, it can shatter easily if knocked or stressed, so make sure you take safety precautions. I recommend wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as cut-resistant gloves, safety eyewear, a long-sleeved shirt, trousers, and enclosed shoes to prevent any accidents.
