How to stain sides of decking boards when stain runs over
Had cleaned deck and the cleaner ran down side. Also the sides of the decking boards on the deck also have runs . How can I fix these problems
Can’t work out how to get a response
Hi @CathMcLeod,
A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community and thank you for your question.
Apologies for the delay in response.
It looks like you have residual deck cleaner left over after you cleaned it. I would suggest giving it another cleaning, then hosing everything down with water to ensure the cleaner is flushed off the boards. Check out How To Clean a Deck for some further guidance.
If you are finding areas where the oil itself is patchy, you can give them an extra coat of the oil. To prevent runs, apply the oil in thin coats and work in small sections. If you see the oil start to run, spread it out with your paintbrush, roller or oil applicator. Check out How To Oil Your Deck for some guidance on this process.
If they are particularly troublesome, you can sand back the areas with poor coverage and then recoat them with oil. Check out How To Sand A Deck for some guidance on this process.
Let me know if this helps, and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
