Hello @icmmau

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about the galvanized steel post.

It is possibly a typographical error as you mentioned gauge 2 is 6.5mm, I suspect it is meant to say 12 gauge which is 2mm. In regards to using it a s a patio post, it will be necessary to engage the services of an engineer as they will review the load characteristics and suitability of the post. It also depends on what weight the post will be carrying and the type of dynamic forces it will need to put up with.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

G'day Eric,

Thanks for your reply.  If the fencing posts are2mm, and the patio posts are 2mm, is the difference only in the length they are supplied?

Hi @icmmau,

Would it be possible for you to post the link to the products you're referencing? I presume it is the Australian Handyman Supplies 50 x 50mm x 2.4m Galvanised Steel Fence Post, but I'm unable to find a patio post in a 50mm size. It could be a location-specific product. I do see the other 90mm patio posts.
