Letterbox Upgrade!

After months of disrespecting our very meager letterbox during our recent renovations we decided it was time to add a statement that was also delivery truck proof And would be a permanent feature in our driveway.

After another close shave with a delivery truck! She was in need of some love.

Steps

Step 1

After some recent rain it was easy digging a footer to hold this 300x300mm reclaimed post which had been under our house for years.

Only about 500mm deep and roughly the same in diameter,

the hole got a few shovels of drainage rock and the rest filled in with rapid set. https://www.bunnings.com.au/bastion-20kg-rapid-set-concrete_p0760292

Step 2

The next day the post was roughly sanded to keep that rustic look and given three coats of Aquadeck in Natural.

Its great to use and washes up easily in water.

Then pre drilling the holes to attach the house numbers.

Three coats of Aquadeck.

Step 3

Next the wall mount was attached after pre drilling the holes.

And than mounting the new letterbox to the bracket.

Very simple with the included instructions.

Step 4

Wait for the postman to explain why the mailbox has moved everyday for the last year and thank him for his patience as he admires your handiwork.

This was a fun project and should be much harder to be backed into by a delivery vehicle While adding that little bit of street presence with a lovely rustic feel.
