Should I change my decorative pebbles?

Hi all,

As you can see the house had some pinkish looking pebbles in the garden but now that I’ve pulled a lot of garden out and painted the wall, I’m thinking maybe I should update the pebbles to suit the monument colour wall. What do you think? I’m planning to put a firepit in this area with a couple of tree stump stools.

I'm putting my vote to keeping the pinkish coloured pebbles. They provide a great contrast to your wall, and you can clearly see where the wall starts and begins. If you were to replace these with grey coloured pebbles it would technically blend in with your brick wall and will remove its clear definition. Plus, you'll clearly see where the fire pit is, whereas a grey background will not be very exciting.

I like the difference in colour as well, it gives a sharp line that frames the area.

I did have a thought of adding a different coloured pebble (white) to the mix but as @EricL has pointed out it would loose the effect, especially with what you want to put into that area.

I just had a closer look and reread your words. When you say garden, do you mean the garden bed? If thats the case then Id replace the garden bed with white pebbles 🙂 Not that im keen on pebbles (Ive had to sift too many out of soil over the years) but think the difference in colour would be nice.

You could simply mix another colour pebble of either the same or smaller sized to break the pink up. Possibly a white over a dark coloured stone may give it a more modern look. But of course it's all personal taste.

Another solution is if this is a pathway from one area to another, you could lay a few large format pavers or flat stones.
