Should gap between decor screen post foot and concrete path be sealed?

Hi all,

I have secured some decor screen posts to my exposed agregate path. There is a gap between the post foot and the path because washers are used to ensure posts are plumb.

Is it a good idea to seal the gap with silicone or better off to leave it open.

Re: Gap between decor screen post foot and concrete path. Seal it or not?

Hello @CarlL

Thanks for sharing your question about your post footing. I vote leaving the gap to allow water to escape should any find its way there; it also allows air to pass through which promotes evaporation. Since you've used galvanized fittings, it should be able to withstand inclement weather.

Let me call on our experienced members @Dave-1 and @Nailbag for their vote on the matter.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Hi @CarlL

Unless it’s an eyesore for you it would be safe to leave as is. Otherwise you could run a bead of black silicone around the outside which would cosmetically have a cleaner finish. This would be more preference.

Afternoon @CarlL

Id also vote with leaving it open to allow drainage and air flow

Nice job at leveling the posts
