A standard render can attach the beading to the external corner @IanP. Trowel a small amount of render onto the corner and then press the beading firmly on it. Scrap off any excess that squeezes through. Wait for the render to firm up before overcoating the corner.
I actually tried the standard render prior to asking this question and it did not work for me. Silly me!
After reading your reply and watching the video again, I realized my silly mistake.
I was putting the bead on the corner of the masonry blocks and then putting the render on.
I tried it again this weekend and it worked this time. Putting the render first and pressing the bead onto it.
