Hi, i'm just trying to establish whether this lock is going to work for our side gate (photo below).

We want it lockable from the outside - keyless is best for kids. On a bit of a budget.
I was also planning on fitting a gate spring. Would a 200mm be sufficient?

Thank you.
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @kstroll. It's brilliant to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about locks.
Yes, that Yardlock keyless lock kit should work well for most timber side gates. It’s a good option if you want something keyless and easy for kids to use, while still keeping the gate secure. Bear in mind that some adjustment to the gate might be necessary if the lock fixings don't align with the timber slats. This might require you to install a timber block in the lock's mounting location.
As for the 200mm gate spring, that should be sufficient for a standard side gate. It will provide enough tension to pull the gate closed firmly after someone walks through. Just make sure to install it with a bit of adjustment room, so you can fine-tune how quickly it swings shut.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks very much Mitchell
The lock arrived. Yes, looks like i need two small blocks for both sides. Do Bunnings cut timber to size? Will i just use pine and screw it to the gate picket?
Hi @kstroll,
We can cut timber, but cutting it that small is not within the boundaries of our safety procedures.
I'd suggest grabbing a Craftright Mitre Box And Saw Set. You can cut any timber you need to size neatly with this.
Pine is fine, but you'll want to use something H3-treated as it will be exposed to the weather. As long as the dimensions fit your needs, as long as it is H3 treated, it will be fine.
Let me know if you require any further assistance.
