Why is Locklatch Plus key barrel not locking?

Hi,

Help requested please.
I have just installed the D&D Technologies Locklatch Plus on a fence gate which was pretty straight forward. However, the key barrels turn left and right to lock/ unlock as indicated on the barrels however nothing happens. It’s as though the barrels are spinning but it’s not engaging “lock”. The barrels do push in and spin so I know it should operate correctly however it simply won’t lock/ unlock. Why?

NB: the keys seem super weak and cheap and will without doubt snap, so I’ll be replacing them asap (once figuring out how to get them to work).

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your gate lock.

I can only suggest some basic trouble shooting steps. Have you tried to lock it from the other side of the fence? Did you push the lock in button from the outside so that the connecting rod joins the main body of the lock? If not, please push the button outside to make sure that the connecting rod joins the two parts together. If after joining the two parts together and the lock still won't engage, please return the unit back to the store for an exchange. Please do not disassemble the lock as there are no service parts available inside.
