How to seal window gap?

hi was thinking if I should fill in this gap in the window with a type of sealant .the house is a new build and multiple windows are an inch or so short of being long enough. Due to alot of wet weather around I was thinking I should cover all these gaps

Thank you for sharing your question about your window sealant. Is water entering the window and going into your house? If it's not, that gap might be used as an outlet or drain point and blocking it off might produce negative effects. Since the house is brand new, I propose speaking to the realtor or the builder who built the house and asking them about the window seals and why they are an inch short. In this particular instance, if there is no negative effect inside the house and water is not entering the window frame, I suggest not sealing the gap.

I would ask the builder to fix these issues under warranty.

Otherwise you can use a clear roof and gutter silicone to fill those gaps shown in the 2nd photo but not where the rubber falls short in the first photo. That looks like the rubber is short on the bottom of an opening window frame. This would require the rubber to be replaced as it should go full length.

I was thinking along the lines of what @EricL has said in that they may be drain holes/gaps for a purpose.

I would contact the builder/real estate people as if it isnt that would be the first port of call.

I have a builder cover up weap holes that really we both should have spotted (end of the day rushing to get the job done) and instead of the water going out, it came in when it rained. So one way you could test the window would be to make sure its dry inside, then hose the window. If no water comes in I dare say the windows are correct. If it does, then warranty issue for ssure.
