Updating your kitchen to make it more functional and stylish can be an easy weekend project.

Bunnings Workshop members have shared many easy and relatively inexpensive ways that can make your kitchen a more enjoyable place for cooking and spending time with your loved ones.

Below are some examples. Let us know if you have any questions.

1. Add VJ panelling

VJ panelling is a simple way to spruce up a flat surface and create a stunning feature in any kitchen. Pete (@ProjectPete) used Easycraft EasyVJ panelling to enliven his kitchen island with a bold colour choice of British Paints Mossy Road.

2. Add shelves

Shelves can maximise storage and help organise essentials in your kitchen. Experienced Workshop member Jess (@prettyliving)’s recycled timber shelves transformed a kitchen bare spot, adding style and functionality.

3. Paint the splashback

A paint refresh is one of the easiest ways to modernise a dated splashback. While giving his kitchen a cosmetic makeover, Rufaro (@diy_hausdesigns) painted his tiled splashback to make his space appear brighter.

4. Decorate your cabinet doors

Give your cabinets more charm and character by adding detail. Wanting to achieve a Shaker-style look, Jasmine (@jasmine_rose) glued thin strips of MDF to her cabinet doors in this budget kitchen makeover.

5. Paint the benchtop

Another easy way to dramatically change the look and feel of your kitchen is to paint your benchtop. Raymond (@raymond265) painted his benchtop in bright white while refreshing his kitchen, creating a clean and modern look.

6. Organise drawers

Organising and decluttering drawers can make a huge difference in helping you find what you need quickly and easily, making your kitchen a more enjoyable space to work. Woodworking expert Joe (@JoeAzza) made a bespoke spice rack inside a drawer using leftover timber.

7. Paint the cabinets

Transform your kitchen by changing the colour of your cabinets. Member @newbie23 created a fresh new look in their kitchen by using the Dulux Renovation Range to paint their cabinets.
