Can you use Ekodeck on a kitchen island?

Thoughts on using Ekodeck Hazelwood Batten Screen as side & front panels on my kitchen island?

It really is a matter of opinion and your personal style, but I reckon the Ekodeck Hazelwood Batten Screen Castellated Panels would look fantastic as a finish on a kitchen island.

It's a bold choice, but with the right styling, I think it would look amazing.

I'm a project-starter, not necessarily finisher & I really wanna show myself a finished project..

I already started one idea for my kitchen island, using thin merbau 11×11 quad strips. Was thinking it's a lot of effort & works out ~$200 worth of timber. Must be a cheaper/easier option, especially if I can't trust myself to finish..

Am in the middle of the indecision that usually stops projects..

I completely understand that, I am the same myself. I get grand ideas and then stumble when it comes to making them happen.

The benefit of a premade panel like the Ekodeck Castellated Panels is that you can just slap them on, then tidy them up, and you're done.

I used AI to generate a render of what it could look like.

I don't know about you, but that looks pretty good to me.

Hi @yyyknott,

It is worth noting that if you did use these panels, you would need to leave some small gaps for expansion and contraction at the top and bottom of the panel, as composite products are prone to this.

You could still use them, you would just have to leave some room for expansion.

I really like your idea as well. (Will be filling it away for my kitchen ideas, only problem I am not a huge fan of plastic lol)

Indecison.... Oh yeah I know that one I am currently redoing my foyer as my indecision over my kitchen ground it towards a halt lol The foyer also stretches into the hall and now I am fixing cracks and holes in the plaster....

I am not sure if you would need to leave much of a gap due to expansion as @JacobZ mentions. prob its wise but the sun wont be getting to the counter like it would an outside deck so I dont think there will be much heating to make it expand. I would figure out how you will do your corners ect if you use the eco deck is all.

The first bookcase I modified, I used oak trim for the edges and it cost a bundle. The second batch I did I asked a mate to rip down a large piece of pine and used it instead. With the oil on the timber you cant tell which timber it is... Id go with the eco deck and keep the merbau for another project
