How can I stick acoustic felt board to brick?

As per the title, I want to stick these 1200 x 800mm 9mm Acoustic Pinboard Blue - Bunnings Australia to a fairly smooth brick wall.

It is for a school hallway, so it needs to be low cost, easy and they can't randomly fall down.

What can I use?

Afternoon @Mummo

I dont see a reason why you cant.... tho trying to remove it at a later date will be painful.

So I would use something along the lines of liquid nails Selleys 350g Heavy Duty Liquid Nails.

* Note, do a test spot of glue on the fabric itself before appling to the wall to see if the glue reacts with the Acoustic pinboard. Id dosnt look like it will but better to be safe.

As an alternative to a painful removal process down the track you could secure the panel to

1220 x 915mm 5mm Masonite Underlay

or

CUSTOMwood 900 x 600 x 3mm Backing Board White Standard E0 MDF

Then bolt both to the brickwork. That way no mess if the design changes later on.

Hello @Mummo

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about fixing acoustic felt board to a brick wall.

It's fantastic that you've received excellent advice from @Dave-1. His advice is exactly what I would have recommended, I would also suggest looking at Sika 300ml White SikaSeal Kitchen And Bathroom Silicone Sealant as a second choice. From a repair point of view attaching the acoustic board to timber board is a good idea as at some point in the future you'll want to repair or upgrade the board. Because you've only bolted it onto the brick wall it will not be difficult to remove and replace.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

I should add that we also want to avoid holes in the walls. It will be less likely to be approved if there is permanent damage.

Re: How can I stick acoustic felt board to brick?

Hello @Mummo

Thank you for adding that extra bit of information. If those are the conditions for the project, you'll need to remove the timber mounting option and give the adhesive option a go. Since you are not allowed to drill into the brick using adhesives will be the only option.

If you have any other questions you would like to ask, please let us know.

Re: How can I stick acoustic felt board to brick?

Afternoon @Mummo

Mmmmm How about hanging it like a picture frame then?

There are everything from a Hangman 34Kg HD Picture & Mirror Picture Hanger (old school rail to hang a picture off) to

Everhang 3.6m 15kg Load Braided Picture Hanging Wire hanging from the ceiling area. (If hanging from teh ceiling I would forgo the backing part of the suggestion)

To stop the "picture" flapping in the breeze or students touching it, on the bottom horizontal edge you could use a long section of velcro and double sided tape if needed. VELCRO Brand 25mm x 1m Black Heavy Duty Stick On Tape

If you want you can post up a pic of the area "floor to ceiling" and we may be able to come up with other ideas
