👋 hi
how can i best refresh this door? I have sanded the bottom where there was some water damage and would like to reseal. The top half has a really nice finish so I’m hesitant to sand it back. What would you recommend?
Hello @roisindubh
In order to get a uniform finish, the door must be totally sanded from top to bottom. Sanding only the damaged bottom section will produce an uneven finish as the sealer will only be absorbed by the section where the wood is exposed. I suggest investing in a detail sander so that you can get into the small corners of the door. Once the door has been sanded down, I recommend cleaning the surface and removing all the sanding dust before you apply your preferred sealer.
Here are some handy step-by-step guides:
The techniques used on these guides are applicable to your project. In regards to the sealer, I suggest visiting your local store and going to the paint department and having a look at the sealer sample board. This will give you a much better idea of the finishes and you can choose the one that will suite your needs.
