How can I change this laundry tub to something more modern? Picture
Hi @ELI5,
These days, most people replace older laundry tubs with a cabinet-style unit that has an inset tub on top. This setup looks more modern and also gives you the option to run a benchtop across the cabinet, washing machine, and even under a wall-mounted dryer for a sleek, built-in look. If you can share a few more details about the space, such as the dimensions, existing plumbing layout, and whether you would like extra storage, we can suggest some specific products and layout ideas to suit your laundry area.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Here is current setup, to the left of the washing machine is a small space with a cupboard, but the man hole is above it, so a bit hesitant to have a permanent fitting like floating shelf or bench top in that space
Hello @ELI5
Thank you for sharing that photo of your laundry. Can you please tell me how big is that space on the left-hand side of the washing machine? I'm guessing that the laundry tub on the right is standard size which is about 600mm in width? The design that Mitchell has suggested will definitely work and if you don't want a cabinet above the laundry tub it's still possible. Once you let us know the space available on the left-hand side we'll offer some recommendations.

Here is the picture, the section is about 90cm, where I intend to place a 180 by 90cm cupboard in.
Hello @ELI5
I've drawn up a sample layout for your laundry. If you are going to use an 1800 tall pantry, I suggest looking at the Bedford Furniture 900mm White 2 Door Pantry. Please note that the Bedford pantry is not as deep as standard kitchen pantries which are 600mm deep.

Hi thanks, just circling back to my initial question;
1. Can I easily DIY the replacement of the current tub and fit out of suggested layout
2. The dryer is a heat pump and quite heavy to hang, also the water taps for the washing machine is behind the dryer, might be best to stack dryer and washing machine.
Hello @ELI5
If you have a bit of carpentry and flatpack assembly experience you should be able to install the cabinets and benchtop yourself. However, you'll need to engage the services of a plumber as the connections must be installed safely and in compliance with local council rules and regulations. In regards to your request about the dryer being on top of the washing machine there is no issue with that configuration, and it can be left as is.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Hi, thanks for your response, just regarding the tub, in your experience, is it something that can be easily removed and fitted with the new one - not referring to the required connections, just mechanical work required for replacement of the actual tub.
Hello @ELI5
Removing the old tub is relatively straight forward as the mounting screws just need to be removed. The installation of a laundry tub is very much like the installation of a kitchen sink. Both need to be measured out, and the cutting line needs to be marked on the benchtop. The laundry tub latches on the same way as the kitchen sink, and it uses clips at the side to anchor it safely. If you do a bit of research and prepare properly, you should be able to install the tub without any major issues.
