Hello Members,
I'm looking for a good hand drill machine. I'm looking for long lasting drill bits as I'm not interested to grind and use it.
1. Can you please propose good hand drill machine @ bunnings.
2. Drill bits used for the purpose of for hanging photo frames, mirrors, small carpentery work, drilling tiles etc.
The drill machine shall cater for drill bits that drills multiple materials (Bricks, plasters, tiles, wood etc.) as on long term I would like to use that for DIY Projects.
Are One time use and throw drill bits available that is cost-effective ?
Thanks for your attention.
Best Wishes
M.Muthu.
Hi @nagumuthu,
The unit I would recommend is the Ryobi 18V ONE+ 4.0Ah Hammer Drill Kit. It's perfect for D.I.Y. jobs around the house, has a hammer function for drilling bricks, comes with a decent-sized 4.0Ah battery and is a great price.
For drill bits, I would recommend getting a couple of kits to cover the majority of what you need. The two kits would be the RYOBI 56 Piece Impact Drilling And Driving Set and a Sutton Tools 6 Piece Masonry Drill Bit Set. If you need larger sized drill bits for a project I would advise buying those individually. The same goes for tiles, if you need a specific size I would purchase the individual drill bit you need. The drill bits included in these kits are of good quality and should last a long time without the need for sharpening.
The Craftright range of drill bits is very inexpensive and could almost be deemed throw away at that price point. They will do the job you need them to but will not last anywhere near as long as the kits mentioned above. It would be my advice to purchase something of good quality that will be used for years to come.

What's the best drill for me to buy I want to go to drill into bricks and wood , cordless , and what is essential drill parts do I need to buy
Hi @missjane,
Thanks for your question.
I'm sure the Bunnings Workshop community will be happy to help. You might like to be a little more specific about the projects you'd like to tackle and how much you will be using the drill so that members can provide more specific and helpful advice for you.
I'd also encourage you to check out these previous discussions on the site as they have loads of valuable advice:
Thanks,

Happy to share my thoughts @missjane but first...
Hi @missjane,
I would recommend taking a look at the Ryobi One 18v Brushless Drill Driver. It is a brushless unit which means more runtime and power over a brushed motor unit, keyless chuck and a convenient work light. It would be worth considering upgrading to the Ryobi One 18v Brushless Hammer Drill Driver as this will also allow you to drill into masonry.
For essential drill bits, I would recommend getting a couple of kits to cover the majority of what you need. The two kits would be the RYOBI 56 Piece Impact Drilling And Driving Set and a Sutton Tools 6 Piece Masonry Drill Bit Set. These will allow you to complete many jobs around the home and garden. If there were any specific projects you wished to construct with the drill I can advise other bits to suit.

I would like some advice on the best type of cordless drill to get to start my collection of power tools for home DIY projects. I want something capable of drilling through all surfaces (including masonry) as well as screwing and boring larger holes.
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @MD. It's fantastic that you joined us and many thanks for your question about cordless drills.
You might like to have a read through this guide: How to choose the right drill for the job. From your description, it sounds like you are after a drill driver with hammer function. My recommendation would be the Ryobi 18V ONE+ 4.0Ah Hammer Drill Kit as it will do everything you need. This drill is capable of everything you have specified and comes in at 50 Nm of torque. If you'd like a bit more grunt, then consider the Ryobi One+ 18V Brushless Hammer Drill Kit which has a power rating of 85Nm of torque. The extra power would be beneficial when boring larger holes and drilling through hard masonry surfaces.
Apart from being great quality tools for the D.I.Y'er, they have made it super easy and budget-friendly to add to your collection. You can use the same set of batteries from the driver kit in any new tool from their One+ range and there are over 225 tools to choose from. This means you don't have to keep buying additional batteries with each new tool.
Personally, I use this range and have several tools from it. I've been very happy with them and haven't experienced any issues, even though I don't always treat them particularly nicely.
Please let me know if you have any questions

Hi @MD it’s a purchase worth taking the time to decide upon. What you’re after is a driver-drill with hammer function.
Budget is always a key consideration and realistically you get what you pay for…
I’d be looking for a brushless drill, these tend to be more powerful with lower battery drain & less mechanical problems.
One thing to consider too is how many more tools you may buy. If you plan on expanding your kit then go with an ‘ecosystem’ that offers a good range & interchangeable batteries.
Personally, I had an extensive range of Ryobi ONE+ Gear and found it was excellent quality for the price. They do have entry-level through to ‘pro-sumer’ gear in their drill range.
Over the last few years I’ve been replacing my gear with AEG & found it quite good but it is more expensive.
We’ve had lots of trades through here as we renovate & I have noticed that most tend to use Makita trade-grade gear.
Hope some of this is helpful.
Thanks Mitchell - thats certainly great advice!
