How to connect gas heater bayonet?

We just moved into a rental and it came with a gas heater. However the hose bayonet does not fit into the outlet. We have lined up the notches and pushed with all our might, but I think the bayonet is just too big for the fitting.

Can I buy an adaptor or a new hose? The heater is Paloma PJC-W25FR.

I'm currently not aware of any bayonet fitting adapters. Since you've done several attempts and the bayonet will not fit, I recommend engaging the services of a gas fitter to inspect the fitting.
