How to drill into brick wall to install hooks?

Help!
Trying to hang a small piece of metal pegboard directly to a narrow bit of wall.
it’s a tiny space and I need to hang Pilates springs.
on one side the drill hit metal

Could you drill through it safely/at all?

it’s not as straightforward as I thought.
Can I DIY this? Or do I need a professional?

ps there is one other wall I could use and thought about the double slot flex space with a shelf and pegboard. But I’d rather resolve what I started if possible.

Unfortunately, I don't think that location is viable for two main reasons.

The first is that, without knowing what the metal you have encountered is and the function it serves, it would not be advisable to drill through it.

The second is that you are placing anchors dangerously close to an edge, and those anchors are then going to have dynamic forces applied to them in the form of a pilates spring. When installing anchors in brick or block, most masonry anchors will recommend that they are installed no closer than 5cm to the edge of a surface, as there is potential that the brick or block will blow out.

Unfortunately, I think you are going to have to move the mounting location elsewhere and then patch the holes in your wall. Luckily, it would be fairly easy to patch the holes using a filler such as Spakfilla, giving it a sand with a sanding sponge, then spot priming and painting it.

Hi Elle, you are on the right track, but like Jacob has commented, wall plugs are probably not the best option there.

depending on whether the job needs to be undone at a future time, you could consider liquid nails to hold up the peg board. You could use a few small screws to keep it in place while it sets.

We went for the other wall instead and it’s working well.

Thanks, in the end I ditched the pegboard, and went for the simplest wall hook rack. Gave it a coat of white Rustoleum and installed it with wall plugs.
