How to fill a gap beneath door sweep?

IMG_7857.jpeg

Hi, I’m renovating my new home and pulled up the flooring to reveal a gap between the concrete floor and front door sweep. It goes through to outside, as I can feel a draught and seen bugs crawl through, so I’d like to patch it before laying new floor. I thought to fill it with Ardit rapid repair mortar, but I understand that a (costly) damp proof membrane is required before applying the mortar on direct to earth sub floor. Could you please let me know my options? Thanks for your time.

Re: Fill a gap beneath door sweep

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Deerose. It's brilliant to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about filling a gap.

The Ardit rapid repair mortar will be fine. It's a cement-based product similar to the concrete you're repairing. In this circumstance, a membrane is not required. You could also use Earl's 1kg Concremate Expanding Cement.

Remember to pick up a scraper to apply the product and smooth the surface of it afterwards.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
