How to fill gap between floor and skirting?

Looking to see if we can fill the gap between the floor and wall as shown in the pictures.

Ideally we want to rip up the dark wooden skirting board all around the house and fill in the gap with some type of caulk gap filler that is a similar colour to the wooden floor.

Gap is 5-6mm

I suggest using Selleys 450g Brown Interior No More Gaps to fill the gap between your floor and the wall. It is suitable for interior and exterior gaps with a maximum 25mm width and 12mm depth.
