Can anyone tell me what smoke detectors would fit this existing mount? I don't have the existing one to see what brand/model it was and thinking it will be easiest to get one that fits the existing mount rather than still more holes, etc. Appreciate any advice, the whole diameter is approx 7cm
Hi @charlie3
I'm afraid each smoke alarm system has its own proprietary locking system. Even if we were to find a similar sized smoke alarm, the locking system for it would be totally different or in another location. The good news is that each smoke alarm has its own mounting plate and that even if you were to drill new holes in your ceiling it would be hidden by the mounting plate and the smoke alarm itself. I can see that you have existing holes in your ceiling, I suggest sanding their surface and filling in the holes with UNi-PRO 500g Multi Purpose Interior Filler.
Once the filler cures, sand the surface flat and paint over the repairs. My best advice is to make sure that your smoke alarm complies with the new smoke alarm regulations in your state and that it is located in the best possible spot to detect smoke.
If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Thanks Eric, I was hoping to find the brand that uses this locking system so I could buy the same brand again and reuse the mount, but I'll just pick one and drill more holes as required
