Best way to prevent the window lever falling out of its place? Ever since the window installer came around for some maintenance these won't stay out!
Hi @amichaelmedia,
We'd need to see the window lever to offer advice. Did you mean to upload a photo?
Can I ask you to upload a photo so we can have a look and offer our best advice.
Jacob
Hello @amichaelmedia
Thank you for sharing that photo of your window winder. Does the handle still slot into place and winds the chain back in? If it does, I propose using Loctite 18ml Extreme No Drip Glue Gel to join the axle and handle back together. Using the adhesive will prevent it from falling out or getting pulled off. Make sure to apply only to the inside part of the handle so that it does not stick to the body of the window winder.
Let me call on our experienced members @Dave-1 and @Nailbag for their recommendations.
If you need further assitance, please let us know.

This is not a gluable repair. the winder will need to be removed and the bottom plate taken out to see if what held the handle in place simply requires it to be refitted. Otherwise it might be simpler to just buy a new one. They are cheaper by around $10 if you dont need locking.

Good Evening @amichaelmedia
Im with @Nailbag on this one, anytime Ive come across these window locks/openers its been easier to remove and replace then to try and fix.

Hi @amichaelmedia,
I tend to agree that glue is not the answer. The winder will feed into part of a geared mechanism on the inside of the unit, which would likely not be able to move if it is glued in place.
If you can unscrew the unit from the frame, there will likely be a base plate that can be removed to reveal the inner mechanism. I suspect that the base of the winder has probably snapped, or there is something out of alignment. If you could open up the unit and identify the issue, you may be able to fix it or replace the winder handle, but the most likely fix is to simply replace it with a new window winder.
Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
