How to fix jammed Gainsborough door handle?

IMG_2162.jpeg

Hi all.   The handle will not release the door. This handle does not have a lock. I was able to use a length of plastic to open similar doors in house.  How do I remove the handle to allow me to access the door lock.  There is only one screw (removed) and a tightening screw under the handle (removed). The other hole is the end of the screw which affixes from other side of door.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

Disregard all.  Door was jammed tight, no issue with handle.

Re: gainsborough handle jammed

Hi @paulB1,

A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it's fantastic to have you with us.

It sounds like you've managed to get the door open, is that correct?

If you've found the door is getting wedged on the latch side, then you may be able to adjust the hinges, so this does not happen again.

When the door is closed, is the gap on the hinge side of the door noticeably bigger than the gap on the latch side of the door?

If so, you can bend the hinges with a shifter to adjust the gap.

If you look for "Bending hinges to adjust door" on YouTube, I am positive you will find a video showing how to do it.

Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Jacob
