Hello all
I have lathe & plaster walls and I'm investigating ways to hang pictures. I've been warned that L&P walls crack easily and don't have good weight bearing capacity. Is that right? I'm looking at the Bunnings 'Gallery@home' click system but not sure it will work on plaster? Or should I be looking at individual hooks? And would these ones work? (Sorry that's more than one question!). Elle
Hi @Elle44,
The best way to hang things from your lathe and plaster walls is to utilise the studs that are holding up the lathes. The Gallery@Home system would be perfect for this, as the 2m long rail would span multiple studs and would allow you to hang many pictures without the worry of damaging your walls.
The first thing you'll have to do is locate the studs. This can be done using a Magnetic Stud Finder, which will pick up the nails used to attach the lathes to the studs.
Once the studs have been found, it is a simple case of screwing the Gallery@Home 2m White Tracking Picture Hanging System to the studs, then adding your choice of hooks to the rail.
Let me know what you think, and if you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
