How to install hybrid floor where the door frame is?

Hi everyone ! I need some advice to deal with door frames when installing a hybrid floor. After doing ome research, I have some questions.

1. Can I undercut the door frame completely so the floor can go under ? It's 2 cm wide. I'm worried it may weaken the door frame and collapse.

2. If I don't cut it, how can I install a trim on top of the floor because it's not a wide surface and it's not flat.

Hi @Karellu,

Thank you for your question about installing hybrid flooring through a door frame.

The door jamb, which is what you are looking at, is not really there to support weight, rather it is there to finish the frame so the door will look good. The framing behind the door jamb is what actually carries weight. I've put an arrow in the below image pointing to the framing.

The jamb is attached to this framing, so if you cut it like you plan to, it won't have any effect on the structure.

For peace of mind, you might like to put some screws or trim nails through the jamb into the framing just above where you are cutting, but you won't have any issues cutting through the jamb.
