How to install hybrid floors on floating stairs?

hi there

I have recently purchased a two level townhouse with floating stairs. I’d love to install hybrid floors on both levels and the stairs. I wonder if anyone has any experience in securing hybrid floors to a floating staircase (no riser). Securing the flooring system is t my major concern it’s wrapping the hybrid boards around each entire step so it looks seamless. Would i use some type of bullnose or flush face trim for each edge (4 edges to each step) or I have also seen you can have the hybrid floor planks bent using heat so it could wrap around each edge. My worry is how to finish this off so it looks seamless with no joins?

any ideas, help or pointing in the right direction is appreciated.

Re: hybrid floors on floating stairs

Hello @kingy13

The store currently does not have a purpose-built bullnose or flush face trim kit to attach hybrid flooring to existing steps. I can't recommend using a heat gun on the hybrid flooring as this is outside the regular use and installation of the flooring. This will also automatically void any warranty the flooring has. In this particular instance, I suggest engaging the services of a professional installer. They will have the knowledge and experience to properly and safely install the hybrid flooring to your existing steps. I propose putting the job up on Hipages or Airtasker, make sure to put in as much detail about the job so that you'll get an immediate response.

Another option is to cover the surface of the steps in timber and stain it close to the finish of the hybrid flooring.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Eric
