Hello,
I'm wanting to paint the Door/Window Frames and skirtings of my house, they are stained timber I'm just not sure what the best way to do this would be. I'm wanting to paint them a gloss white. The image attached is what is all through the house.
Thank you
Hello @PanicPixie
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your windows and door frames.
The general steps to painting your window frames, door frames and skirting boards are similar when painting your walls. The surface must first be sanded down to remove any sealers or stains that may have been applied to the timber surface. Your goal is to sand down back to timber and remove any of the old sealer or stains on the surface. I propose investing in a detail electric sander. This will cut down the sanding time and provide you with a uniform finish.
The key to a successful painting job especially if the timber piece was stained is to use the proper primer. In this case I suggest looking at Zinsser 1L White Bulls Eye Primer Undercoat Sealer And Stain Blocker or Dulux 1L PRECISION Stain & Mould Blocker. These primer coats have been designed to block stains from travelling up the paint substrate.
