How to remove a doggy door?

Hello - I have a doggy door cut into a security screen door that I want to remove. I'm selling so don't particularly want to buy a whole new door (maybe the obvious answer) and all my locks have been key matched, so it would be a pain to have one not the same. Removal of the doggy door (plastic frame with plastic flap) will leave a gap between the screening.

Any recommendations on what to use to fill that gap?

TIA.

Re: Remove Doggy Door

Hi @Caron,

Do you have a photo of the door that you can upload?

Unfortunately, if you have a security door with a diamond grille that has been cut, then I am not aware of a solution for this issue that would look imperceptible outside of replacement.

I suppose you could attach a piece of Aluminium Sheet using some rivets, but it wouldn't look fantastic.

You might have to look at a replacement Security Door and swap the lock cylinder so that it remains keyed alike.

Let me know what you think.

Re: Remove Doggy Door

Hi @Caron,

Is there a particular reason why you want to remove the door?

If it's damaged and/or looks grubby you might want to reconsider and simply replace with a new door.

As @JacobZ suggested can you post some photos from inside and outside.

Cheers
