Re: removing film from glass

Hi @ennoh,

What have you been using so far? It looks like you might already be having some success. The main method for removing film from glass is using a bladed scraper. Make sure to wear cut-resistant gloves and safety glasses, and always work away from your hands. Applying a little warm, soapy water with just a couple of splashes of dishwashing detergent can help soften the adhesive as you scrape. Keep reapplying it to the window as you work.

Be very careful not to dig the corners of the scraper into the glass, as this can cause scratches. It’s a good idea to start in an inconspicuous area and gently remove the film, checking frequently for any scratching. If scratches appear, stop and consider another method.

Typically, a bladed scraper is the most effective approach. Also, remember that glass can shatter, so in addition to gloves and safety glasses, wear long sleeves, trousers, and enclosed footwear for extra protection.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Re: removing film from glass

Thanks Mitchell, I have only been rubbing the film off with my fingers, but the remaining film won't budge.   I will now try a scraper as you suggest.

Re: removing film from glass

That was easier than I thought.  Once it's all removed I  should   probably wipe down the window with a solvent to make sure all of the adhesive is removed.  What should I use?

Re: removing film from glass

Once the film is removed @ennoh, a good way to get rid of any remaining adhesive is to use a product like Goof Off 177 ml Adhesive Remover. Apply it carefully to the glass following the instructions on the bottle, and wipe away the residue with a clean cloth. Make sure the area is well ventilated, and avoid letting the solvent sit too long on the glass to prevent any potential damage.
