How to repair roof pointing?

Hey, have some roof pointing that has fallen out, not a big job, wondered is Selleys Point Work an adhesive product to re stick old bits of cement back in or is it a total new pointing product itself

Re: roof pointing

Hello @macca351

If you are referring to the Selleys 10L Neutral Generation II Point Works, it qualifies as an adhesive mechanical fastener. It forms an incredibly strong and durable bond between the tiles and the ridge. If you are only repairing a small portion of your roof, I suggest using the Dunlop 310ml Grey Roof Repair Waterproofing Adhesive as the 10L bucket might be too excessive.

Please remember to take all necessary safety precautions when working at height. I suggest having a look at this guide - How to use ladders safely by @Adam_W.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Re: roof pointing

Hi @macca351,

Selleys Point Works is used to completely repoint a roof.

Don't attempt to stick the broken bits back in, remove all the broken/loose mortar pieces and repoint with a mortar mix.

Go up on the roof with a bucket and brush and collect/clean everything.

Buy some mortar mix.

Mix up enough to fill a container that you can carry safely up onto the roof.

I use one of those because I have to carry up extension ladder onto two story roof.

For smaller jobs I use a kitty litter tray.

I usually use a Gauging Trowel.

One of the workshop lads will likely advise you of the safety aspects of the job.

Cheers
