Old sliding doors are difficult to move.
No rollers , just on the track. Is bunning any parts to replace old track of sliding door? How to take out the track?
Solved! See most helpful response
Hi @Honest52,
The sliding door track is going to be specific to the door system, so we would have to identify the specific door system to have any hope of finding replacement parts. Have a look for an identifying mark on the door or the track as this would likely point you in the right direction.
If you can identify the manufacturer of the door system, and it is one of our suppliers, I would be happy to get in touch with them to see if they have replacement tracks for your door.
Unfortunately, removing the track would not be a simple case of removing some screws and lifting it out as there is a fair chance the window frame and door frame are interconnected.
Unfortunately, I wouldn't call this a D.I.Y. job. It is likely you will need the assistance of a glazier to remove and replace the track as there's a good chance the glass would need to be removed and reinstalled alongside the track.
Allow me to tag @Dave-1 and @Nailbag to see if they have any thoughts that could help.
Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Miracle track cover from bunning is found. Its Rolltrak
How to buy correct size of track cover from bunning? Please advise
Hi @Honest52,
Apologies, I can't say I was aware of these. They look like a great idea. Thank you for showing them to me.
Looking at the Rolltrak website, this guide will show you what you need to measure and the corresponding track.
Once you have selected the correct track, make sure you give it a good clean to remove any dirt or dust, cut it to length using a hacksaw, then use Metal Bog to fix it on to the old track, following the below guide.
This should give you a quality repair that will smooth out your doors operation.
Let me know how you go and if you require further assistance.

Good Evening @Honest52
Must admit I did not know of these either. Tho before I go down that path I would be looking a bit more into the base of the sliding door.
If you get someone to give you a hand to lift the sliding door up and outwards, you should be able to pop it off its tracks, then carefully lie it down on the side. You will be able to view the wheels (whats left of them) hopefully. Take one out and head on into Bunnings as they have a range, not an exhaustive range but you could be lucky. If they dont then head into a glaziers place and see if they have some spare. I redid my window rollers this way. The rollers are sad to say usually sitting in a plastic case/piece so they do tend to wear out.

Hi @Honest52
This is a job I do quite regularly and you will be happy to know is actually very easy. And Bunnings with their fantasist range of spare parts make the job even easier!
1. Lift thew door up as far as you can and then leaver it out from the bottom. The roller wheels might make this difficult so use a flat object to pry them up to clear the roller rails within the door frame.
2. Both top and bottom ofd the door frame will have wheels within spring loaded carriages. If these push in easily and spring out then they are in good nick. If not then they need to be replaced. Carriages will be screwed or riveted in. Drill the rivets out which can be later replaced with screws.
3. the wheels in the carriages will be the main issue. Pry them out and take them to Bunnings. If the carriages are seized take them too. Grab a team member to assist I. matching up the same parts.
If all this sounds a bit daunting then a local handman can do this repair quickly and economically.
