How to replace handle on flyscreen door?

IMG_1396.jpeg

I need to replace the fly screen as it’s got a big hole in it but how can I remove and replace this handle on the sliding door? I can’t seem to figure out what type of screws they are or how to get them out. Please help!

Re: I need to remove and replace these

hi @kitty613

Can you assess the fly screen rubber without  removing the handle as it will save you extra  work. Or  is that flyscreen sandwitched in the frame,

They look like security rivets  from my side of the computer screen. I gather there isnt any screws or something on inside of the handles ?

Well if they rivets you will need to drill them out with approx 6mm drill bit. and re rivet them later so you will need a  riviter tool too.

As you discover more  share it here we can talk more ,

Re: I need to remove and replace these

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @kitty613. It's great to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about removing a handle.

@Jewelleryrescue is on the money there, and the pop rivets need to be drilled out. However, they do have a good point that the spline for the flyscreen does not appear to be on that side or that its removal is impeded by the handle. I suspect you'll have access to the spline on the back side of the door and you need to remove the door from the track for access. Try lifting the screen up and then pulling the bottom edge out of the track and towards you.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
