How to restore shine on floor tiles?

It’s a little hard to see but this is the best way to see the tiles that seem to of lost their glaze. It’s not all over the house just seems to be down the corridor. The sides are ok it’s just the main walkway. Can’t see if it is all the way because corridor is dark and when the lights are on it looks ok.

Any suggestions on how to make them shine again?

Re: How to restore shine on floor tiles?

Hi @Gina59,

I can see what you are talking about; they certainly seem to have lost their shiny coating. Unfortunately, if they are glazed tiles and the glaze has been worn off, replacing these tiles could be the only option that would match the surrounding areas. This is because the glaze is baked into the tile during the firing process. Unfortunately, I am not aware of a method you can use to reapply a glaze.

With this being said, you could always try the following and see how it goes.

Start by using a mixture of warm water and a pH-neutral floor cleaner such as Peerless JAL 1L Versadet Neutral Floor Cleaner. Mop the area carefully, then rinse with clean water to ensure no residue remains.

When clean and dry, apply some Feast Watson Floor Polish to the tiles and buff with a microfibre cloth.

Let me know what you think, and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Jacob
