Hi everyone,
I’ve recently moved into an older home and I’m still learning my way around home maintenance. I’ve noticed gaps between the window frame and exterior bricks where ants and insects are getting in (photos attached). Also, there are some places mortor worn away between bricks. I’m looking for some advice fixing these areas. I’m fairly handy but would really appreciate your suggestions on the right product and step-by-step guidance. Thanks so much in advance!
Hello @JasonR7
I suggest having a quick look at these discussions - How to repair window flashing? by @kathryn11 and How to replace exterior window flashing by @Tess29. There are some good suggestions on how to repair and cover the gaps around your window. The general repair method is to fix the mortar gaps in the brick and sealing off any openings with a silicone sealer or similar. The materials used and steps taken are explained in the discussions.
